Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

Traditional Chinese medicine is about adjusting the energy fields (our qi) of the body.  Qi is the vital force that flows through all living things and the universe.  When our qi is harmonious, balanced and flowing smoothly we experience good mental and physical health.  When our qi gets blocked or deficient that’s when we start to manifest an illness, whether that be a cold or flu, an ache or pain, anxiety or depression.

Whatever that illness might be, we can respond to it with traditional Chinese medicine to encourage the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture balances and supports your body’s underlying systems. By needling specific points in the skin we are causing a tiny microtrauma, enough of a signal to tell the body that it needs to respond by stabilising or moving the qi.  By doing so, acupuncture can regulate and restore the flow of qi and improve your physical and mental health. Acupuncture can help with a number of issues:

Woman’s Health, including Menopause, Menstrual Symptoms, PMT and Fertility

Emotional Health, including Stress, Anxiety, Mood Swings, Depression, Frustration

Pain Management, including Aches, Pains, Sports Injuries and Arthritis

Headaches, Sleep issues, Digestive issues, Allergies and more.

Cupping

Join celebs such at Gwyneth Paltrow and Olympic athelete Michael Phelps and experience the benefits of Cupping.  Cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that has been used for centuries to promote healing and relieve pain. Cupping can induce profound relaxation and overall well-being or invigoration, depending on what your body’s energy needs and how it is administered.

Cupping utilises vacuum suction to alleviate muscle tension and promote circulation and can help with musculoskeletal pain such as back or neck pain, respiratory issues such as asthma or coughs and stress-related conditions.  Cupping can be incorporated into your bespoke acupuncture treatment or as a standalone treatment, always with the emphasis on what your body needs following a traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis.

Gua sha

Gua sha is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves using a smooth-edged tool to apply pressure and friction to the skin.  The technique has been practiced in China since antiquity and still remains a natural way to alleviate pain, boost the immune system, balance yin and yang energies, prevent and treat ailments and promote and maintain overall health.

Referred to as "scraping red spots on the skin", gua sha targets areas where stagnation occurs, hindering the flow of our vital energy (known as qi), lymphatic fluid and blood.  This stagnation leads to the accumulation of toxins in the body, resulting in various health issues.  However, by using gua sha to release these toxins numerous health benefits can be achieved.  These benefits include improving conditions like acne, insomnia, muscle tension, joint pain, headaches and maintaining skin elasticity.

Moxibustion

Melt away the cold and soothe those pains with Moxa. Moxibustion, or "moxa," is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves burning dried mugwort on or near the skin.  It improves circulation, stimulates healing and reduces inflammation by applying heat to specific points on the body.

Moxa effectively treats musculoskeletal pain and arthritis, relaxes muscles and provides pain relief.  It also promotes emotional well-being, reducing stress and enhances relaxation, leading to improved mood and reduced anxiety.

Electro Acupuncture

Electro acupuncture is a modern variation of the traditional Chinese medicine method which involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body to stimulate the flow of energy (known as qi). Electro acupuncture uses these same acupuncture needles, but they are connected to a device that transmits a mild electric current through the needles stimulating the muscles to promote healing.

One of the many advantages of electro acupuncture is its ability to move stagnated qi and blood, thereby enhancing circulation, providing pain relief, reducing inflammation and facilitating the body's natural healing process.

Electro acupuncture is proven to be effective in the treatment of conditions such as musculoskeletal pain in the back, neck, shoulder, elbow and knees as well as headaches, plantar fasciitis (inflammation in the foot), arthritis and it is also effective in addressing tooth pain and jaw clenching.  Additionally, electro acupuncture contributes to emotional well-being by improving mood and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression.
